How to make sure your EPDM Liquid Rubber Application goes on successfully each time…!!

EPDM Liquid Rubber is the best way to protect your roof from all kinds of roof problems like leaks, UV-damage and ponding. The best thing about Liquid Rubber is that it is a true DIY product. It means you can apply liquid rubber on your own if you have the time and the DIY inclination to do so. So here are some tips to help you with your Liquid Rubber application.

Right Pair of Tools

Before you start your Liquid Rubber application make sure you have the right kind of tools under your belt. You should have electric drill, a paddle mixer so you can mix up the liquid and the catalyst, and a roller which you normally use for painting. You should have some rags and xylene for cleaning up if you create some mess.

One Coat Is All You Need

Liquid Rubber is a one-coat application system for your roof. One coat is all you need on most surfaces. Apply the first coat evenly and let it dry. Don’t apply the second coat unless it is absolutely necessary. For smooth surfaces you will get 40 square foot of coverage from one gallon and on rough surfaces you will get 30 square foot of coverage. Use this calculation to estimate how much Liquid Rubber you will need to cover the entire area or roof.

Don’t Paint Yourself into a Corner

When applying Liquid Rubber start from the corner and make your way backwards towards the other corner. In this way you will not get struck in the middle and can save some precious time. Always make sure that you have a way to get off the roof as you are painting.

Although you can apply Liquid Rubber on your own by just following the instructions and with right pair of tools but you can also hire some professionals to do the job for you, if you don’t have the time or DIY inclination to do the job. If you realize that you have air bubbles and that the EPDM Liquid Rubber isn’t adhering properly, a professional can help to ease your mind. Also make sure the professional you hire has some previous experience with Liquid Rubber application.
